𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 I In preparation for the upcoming 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 (𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗧), the institution conducted a comprehensive review session for Grade 12 students, focusing on essential areas such as verbal and symbolic analogy, reasoning, grammar fundamentals, and mathematics.

Abante participated in the MIMAROPA Basic Labor Market Information (LMI) Training held on October 10, 2025. 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 I With the theme “𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙊𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙣, 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙊𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙊𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮,” Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology marked this year’s Maritime Week through a series of engaging activities, including a maritime obstacle course that showcased the strength, discipline, and teamwork of its students held at SCMBT Annex Covered Court.
As part of the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, Southwesternians took the spotlight in the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 and 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗕𝗲𝗲, where they displayed their diverse talent, skills and passion for the maritime field.
Highlighting the vital role of maritime professionals in safeguarding the oceans, maritime students participated in a seminar conducted by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) held at SCMBT Annex Covered Court, September 24.

The 3-day conference ended with all attendees participating in the “Collective Commitment Ceremony” as each one take turns in signing in the enlarged commitment paper. It was a very worthwhile activity that challenged all the participants to take further action in writing research with global standards and to partake with the sharing of best practices that are worth emulating.
In celebration of the birthday of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the government launched the initiative “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat,” which aimed to bring various public services closer to the people. Among the participating agencies in this nationwide initiative was the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), through its Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST).

09-11 June 2025, MARINA Regional Office IV led by Engr. Rizal J. Victoria, through its Seafarers Documentation Section, successfully conducted a comprehensive SID/SRB Mobile Processing event in Southwestern College of Maritime Business and Technology Inc. (SCMBTI), Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, benefiting a total of 99 participants. This mobile processing initiative aimed to streamline and expedite the processing of maritime-related documents for the region's aspiring maritime professionals.
As part of their academic and industry preparation requirements, incoming 3rd year students from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT), Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE), Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management (BSHM), Diploma Courses, and Ship Catering programs have successfully completed their Basic Training held at Cavite from June 8-13.

To equip them with the essential skills and competencies for their onboard training, the second batch of third-year students from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) programs is currently undergoing an intensive 8-day package training at Pentagon Maritime Services Corporation in Manila, from May 14 to May 21.
As part of their preparation for Onboard Training (OBT), third-year students from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) programs are currently undergoing an intensive 8-day package training at Pentagon Maritime Services Corporation, Manila.

Showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and skills, two students from Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology have secured medals in the Philippine National Skills Competition held at the World Trade Center, August 21-25.

We were honored to host 𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮 and esteemed officials on Saturday, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 09, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, at SCMBT. Thanks to the commendation from TESDA Provincial Director Ben-Hur Baniqued, our institution was chosen as a premier TVI exemplifying state-of-the-art facilities for TESDA Programs.
March 9, 2024, OMNHS Calapan hosted a significant event as Tesda Mimaropa, in collaboration with industry partners, formalized a Memorandum of Agreement. Embracing its role in the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair, the TESDA not only offered a diverse range of beverages and pastries but, more notably, provided essential examination services for individuals aspiring to join Tesda programs.
With the theme “𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐇𝐲𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬” the faculty of Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology conducted five days In-Service Training as preparation for the opening of second semester for the school year 2023-2024. It helps teachers to acquire new understanding and instructional skills to develop their effectiveness in the classroom.
On October 21, 2023, a Bloodletting Activity was conducted at Southwestern College of Maritime Business and Technology Inc., Quezon Drive, Calero, Calapan City. 28 students participate in the bloodletting activity that was conducted by Oriental Mindoro Blood Council.
