What a phenomenal two-day milestone celebration! 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. (𝗦𝗖𝗠𝗕𝗧) proudly joined forces with TESDA for their explosive 𝟯𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆—and we brought our absolute best to the spotlight!

Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. participated in the 𝗧𝘄𝗼-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 on the Implementation of the Revised Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Level Descriptors, organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for Maritime Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs).
𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Highlighting the rich cultures, traditions, and identities of the countries that make up the ASEAN community, SCMBT proudly joined the celebration of ASEAN Month with the theme “𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿,”.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 I Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. successfully passed the Maritime Training Institution (MTI) inspection and evaluation with zero deficiencies, reaffirming the institution's commitment to delivering quality maritime education and training that meets national regulatory standards.
To strengthen awareness of the Spanish language and foster Filipino-Hispanic cultural exchange, Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. spearheaded the 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗼-𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 bringing together educators, government representatives, students, and partner organizations held at the Gabaldon Building.

Food Festival: Piyestang Pinoys
As part of our Linggo ng Wika Celebration 2026, the Food Festival: Piyestang Pinoy brought the rich flavors, vibrant traditions, and colorful heritage of the Philippines to life through an unforgettable culinary experience amd set up.
Aug. 28, 2016, the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management celebrated Linggo ng Wika 2026 with activities prepares, for the students. The success of the celebration would not have been possible without the dedication, creativity, and hard work of the BSHM 4th Year, BSTM 4th Year, and DHTM 3rd Year students under the class of Mr. Jonar Jake Cantos, as part of their subject, Introduction to M.I.C.E. From planning and preparation to the actual execution of the activities, our students poured their time, effort, talents, and teamwork into making this celebration a memorable and meaningful one.

The SCMBT 2026 ASEAN Month Celebration, organized by the College of Maritime Department, in joint collaboration with our department, the College of Hospitality and Tourism, brought together students in a meaningful celebration of ASEAN spirit and camaraderie. Our BS Tourism Management and BS Hospitality Management students proudly showcased their knowledge, creativity, confidence, and talent across the different activities.

The BSHM 4th Year and BSTM 3rd Year students actively participated in an enriching orientation held at Gabaldon Hall, Oriental Mindoro National High School (OMNHS), featuring representatives from the Spanish Embassy in Manila and Instituto Cervantes de Manila.

As we celebrated Nutrition Month last July, the BSHM, BSTM and DHTM departments had an activity that highlighted the importance of making healthy choices, not only for our well-being today, but also for the future we are building. And to emphasize the beginning of Nutrition Month to the HM, TM and DHTM students, one of the SCMBT College Sports Coordinators, Mr. Orly Romiral, led an insightful talk on the importance of proper nutrition, a balanced diet, and regular exercise.

A productive and insightful day as our BSHM and BSTM students were introduced to the laboratory environment, safety protocols, proper equipment handling, and the essential practices needed for hands-on learning for HM, TM and DHTM students conducted by Ms. Olive Lastimosa, SHS and DHTM teacher.
Event 1 of SY '26 - '27: Jul. 3, 2026
The 1st General Meeting of the BSHM, BSTM, and DHTM students was successfully held at the SCMBT Annex, marking the beginning of another exciting academic year in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism.
BSHM and DHTM students are currently undergoing their OJT 1 – Restaurant Practicum, where classroom learning meets hands-on industry experience in the field of hospitality and service. A heartfelt thanks to our valued training partners, Plato Restaurant, Bungkos Restaurant, Ten 2 One Bar, and Filipiniana Hotel, for generously opening their doors and providing meaningful training opportunities to my students.

A moment of pride and achievement was celebrated as the BSHM and BSTM 4th Year students of SCMBT held their Graduation Ceremony last May 6, 2026 at Café Angela, San Antonio, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Leadership begins with a heart that is ready to serve. We proudly introduce the newly elected officers of the 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹, who are committed to representing the student body with integrity, responsibility, and excellence.
𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 I As part of the Opening Block Activity, Grade 11 and Grade 12 students participated in the 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 held at SCMBT Annex Building Covered Court, June 18.
The event aimed to strengthen camaraderie among students, boost their confidence, and encourage active participation in school organizations and leadership programs. It also provided an opportunity for learners to interact with their peers and teachers in a fun and meaningful environment.
𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 I Senior High School (SHS) students gathered for a Health, Safety, and Well-Being Program, a full-day activity aimed at preparing students for a safe, healthy, and productive academic year held at SCMBT Annex Covered Court.
Accompanied by Sir Zaldy D. Andal, SHS-OIC Principal, Major Jonny V. Magluyan, Discipline Officer and Sir Bern E. Alvis, the students embarked on a five-day maritime journey from December 9 to 13, navigating the route from Manila to Cebu, then to Ozamis to Butuan, and back to Manila.

SCMBT's Grade 12 TVL-Maritime students are onboard the ship 2GO Travel in fulfilment of their work immersion requirements. They are set to travel from port of Manila to Coron and vice versa. This is made done in collaboration of Southwestern Maritime Business and Technology and 2GO Travel!

Our student leaders kicked off the event with immense energy, diving into engaging team-building exercises, dynamic group discussions, and interactive activities designed to hone their teamwork, decision-making, and communication skills.

The activity served as an important avenue to familiarize students and parents with the school's policies, programs, services, and academic expectations for the upcoming school year.

These partnerships signify the institution's commitment to providing cutting-edge education and fostering industry-relevant skills in the fields of Digital Arts and Information Systems. The participating companies include Wacom, IP Solutions, First Data Corp - Adobe, Rujie Networks, and PSITE MIMAROPA. The partnership was initiated through the assistance of Dr. Neil P. Balba, the PSITE National Trustee and International and Local Consultant for IT. He is also an icon for IT in the Philippines and other countries.
