๐ก๐๐ช๐ฆ I Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology Inc. (SCMBT) showcased its firefighting skills by securing the ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ-๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ต and claiming the ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ in the ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐ during the First Calapan City Collegiate Fire Olympics held at Mindoro State University-Calapan City Campus, March 15.
The competition, organized by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Calapan City, was part of the Fire Prevention Month celebration, carrying the theme โ๐๐ ๐๐๐-๐๐ฌ๐๐จ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ช๐ฃ๐ค๐, ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐-๐๐๐จ๐โ. The event brought together four state universities and colleges competing in various fire-related challenges.
SCMBT demonstrated exceptional teamwork and agility, particularly in the ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐, where they outperformed their competitors to claim the championship title. Other events in the competition included the Bucket Relay, Fire Extinguisher Relay, and Tug of War.
The team was guided by Major Jonny Magluyan, SCC Adviser; Engr. Glenn Anthony Rayos, SCC Co-adviser; and Maโam Judith Mae Zamora, OSA Coordinator.
The said event highlighted the importance of fire safety awareness, teamwork, and emergency response preparedness among students, reinforcing the importance of proactive fire prevention measures.
