This was the powerful reminder left by Dr. Kathleen Mae Joy E. Cabral Aldovino during the HIV Awareness Seminar held at SCMBT Annex Covered Court, August 6.
Organized to promote health literacy, responsibility, and compassion, the event brought together students and faculty for an engaging morning of education and advocacy.
The seminar featured Mr. Leonard M. Cuya, a Department of Health (DOH) HIV Counselor and SHIP Peer Navigator, who delivered an in-depth discussion on HIV facts, prevention, and protection. As part of his talk, he conducted a practical demonstration on the proper use of protective measures using an instructional model, emphasizing the importance of consistent and safe practices.
Free and confidential HIV testing, along with the distribution of free condoms, was provided to participants as part of the ongoing advocacy for responsible health management.
More than an information campaign, the event sought to break stigma, promote accurate knowledge, and inspire the SCMBT community to take proactive steps in protecting their own health and that of others.
