Demonstrating unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student welfare, Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. has conformably passed all the requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Following a thorough monitoring and evaluation process last March 12, 2025, SCMBT proudly emerged as one of the model institution in student affairs, research, and academic programs, solidifying its reputation as a premier higher education institution in the MIMAROPA Region.
During the assessment, CHED evaluated SCMBT’s Student Affairs and Services, ensuring that programs, activities, and student organizations, such as sports, cultural groups, and the school publication, were vertically aligned with the Institutions Mission, Vision, Goal and Objectives (VGMO) along with the commission’s Policy and Standard Guidelines (PSG). The school’s calendar of programs and activities were also scrutinized, showcasing well-structured initiatives designed to enhance student engagement by nurturing creativity and critical thinking minds.
Furthermore, the research and extension services of SCMBT were assessed to ensure compliance with CHED’s community standards. The evaluation team examine the institution’s efforts in encouraging a research culture and community based outreach, both of which play a crucial role in fostering a holistic and transformative educational approach for the present generation.
In addition to academic and student services, CHED made a meticulous performance review and monitoring among its Recognized and Licensed Bachelors Degree Programs namely; BSHM, BSTM, BSEntrep, BSIS, BMA, BSMT and BSMarE. All their Program of Studies/ Curriculum, faculty credentials, and industry-aligned training were presented to ensure the quality of education and practical skills imparted to students were appropriately suitable and befitting to meet Industry demand and standards.
Following the comprehensive evaluation, SCMBT received commendation and note worthy remarks from CHED for its swift and efficient compliance with all the statutory requirements even exceeding a few. The commission acknowledged the school’s administrations proactive approach and dedication to maintaining quality education and student development and services.
SCMBT’s achievement in meeting CHED’s standards again seamlessly reaffirms its earnestness to providing excellent education and student support services.
