π‘ππͺπ¦ I In line with its commitment to safety and disaster readiness, Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology Inc. (SCMBT) actively participated in an earthquake drill conducted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Oriental Mindoro, August 9.
The said activity was facilitated by PDRRMO representatives Sonny Debbie F. Famadulan and Ivy Kristine A. Basco, who provided valuable insights on disaster resilience and the importance of preparedness during emergencies. Their discussion emphasized quick response measures, proper evacuation procedures, and the critical role of individual and collective readiness in minimizing risks during natural calamities.
Through the drill, students, and faculty were given the opportunity to practice the βDuck, Cover, and Holdβ technique, followed by an organized evacuation to designated safe areas. The simulation aimed to enhance the communityβs capacity to respond effectively in real-life earthquake situations.
