𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 I Beyond the Campus: SCMBT Extends Compassion and Education to Mangyan Community Village
In a heartfelt show of unity, compassion, and purpose, Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology Inc. (SCMBT) conducted the yearly Outreach Program at the Mangyan Community Village in Barangay Burbuli, Baco, Oriental Mindoro.
With the theme “Empowering Community: Educate, Protect in Building Future,” the event brought meaningful impact to the indigenous community through a blend of interactive learning, values formation, and heartfelt engagement.
The outreach, held on April 6, was led by Sir Ernest Macalalad, alongside passionate student-volunteers from Hospitality Management (HM), Tourism Management (TM), Information Systems (IS), and Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (DHTM) programs. They were joined by Mam Maricel Oberio and the active members of HAWCS.
The program featured various engaging games and community-building activities, creating a fun and inclusive environment for the participants. One of the highlights of the program was the informative talk on Safe Sex Education and Family Planning which addressed critical topics such as reproductive health, consent, responsible relationships, and the importance of protecting one’s future.
Through initiatives like this, SCMBT continues to live out its mission of producing not only skilled professionals but also socially responsible individuals dedicated to uplifting others. The Outreach Program stands as a powerful reminder that education, when paired with compassion and purpose, can truly transform lives and build stronger communities.
