π—œπ—‘ 𝗣𝗛𝗒𝗧𝗒𝗦 | A total of 229 examinees from various secondary schools across the Mindoro provinces took the National Merchant Marine Aptitude Test (NaMMAT) held at the SCMBT Main Building, October 23.

Jointly organized by the Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. (CEM) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the examination was conducted free of charge for all qualified students.

Mandated under CHED CEB Resolution No. 543-2025, the NaMMAT serves as a major gateway for aspiring maritime students and is a requirement for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) programs.

The test aims to evaluate the readiness of graduating Senior High School students and incoming first-year college students for maritime education and officer training, ensuring that future maritime professionals possess the knowledge, aptitude, and competencies needed for success in the industry.

After the examination, the examinees were toured around the institution’s facilities, including its state-of-the-art simulators and training equipment. The tour gave them a firsthand look at the learning environment and modern resources available to maritime students. To cap off the activity, the examinees were also treated to light refreshments prepared by the institution.
