Fifty Grade 12 Maritime students from Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology Inc. (SCMBT) recently completed a valuable work experience program aboard the MV ๐ ๐ฉ ๐ฎ๐๐ข ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ด๐น๐ฎ. The program, led by School Principal Mr.๐ญ๐ฎ๐น๐ฑ๐ ๐. ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐น and accompanied by ๐ ๐ฎ๐ท๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ป๐ป๐ ๐ฉ. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ด๐น๐๐๐ฎ๐ป.
Students embarked on a transformative learning journey, guided by Shipboard Training Officer Junior Third Officer ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฎ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฎ. They gained firsthand experience with various port operations and procedures while sailing through ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ซ๐๐๐๐, ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐.
Students engaged in a range of immersive activities that were carefully crafted to broaden their understanding of maritime topics and refine their abilities during the program. A thorough understanding of shipboard operations was intended to be provided by every activity, which included safety equipment drills, mooring and unmooring procedures, hands-on experiences in the bridge and engine room, and shipboard familiarization.
Students learned in a secure and encouraging environment under the close supervision and mentoring of ship officials, allowing them to successfully apply classroom theories to real-world scenarios.
The program culminated with a memorable closing ceremony, which marked the successful completion of the onboard work immersion. SCMBT's initiative provides students with practical experience while also bridging the gap between theoretical learning and the demands of the maritime industry.
