SCMBT's Grade 12 TVL-Maritime students are onboard the ship 2GO Travel in fulfilment of their work immersion requirements.
They are set to travel from port of Manila to Coron and vice versa.
This is made done in collaboration of Southwestern Maritime Business and Technology and 2GO Travel!
Meanwhile, several students are currently deployed in the Philippines Ports Authority Office, at the Calapan City Pier. Other students will also be deployed at the Philippine Coast Guard.
The work immersionists from 2Go Travels will be returning tomorrow (June 2, 2023), while those in the PPA and PCG still have to complete their 40 hours awaiting further updates.
As per DepEd Order No. 30 series of 2017, Work immersion is a required subject that has been incorporated into the curriculum. This subject will provide learners with the following opportunities:
1. ๐๐จ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ซ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐๐. Learners will be able to observe and participate in the daily operations of a workplace, giving them a first-hand look at the different roles and responsibilities that are involved in different occupations. This will help them to better understand the expectations of employers and the skills that are required for success in the workplace.
2. ๐๐จ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ. Work immersion will give learners the opportunity to develop their soft skills, such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. They will also have the chance to gain experience in their chosen field, which will make them more competitive in the job market.
3. ๐๐จ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง/๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ. Learners will be able to apply the knowledge and skills that they have learned in school in a real-world setting. This will help them to solidify their understanding of the material and to develop their ability to think critically and solve problems.
