Focused on strengthening teaching practices and creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment, Senior High School (SHS) Department of Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. (SCMBT) conducted its In-Service Training (INSET) held at SCMBT Main Bldg. September 17.
Carrying the theme “Empowering Educators, Inspiring Learners, Transforming Futures,” the training featured resource speakers who shared knowledge and strategies relevant to the current needs of Senior High School educators.
Ms. Mary Ann B. Arellano, Education Program Specialist, discussed “Operationalizing Child Protection Policies through Positive Discipline and Psychological First Aid in Senior High School,” highlighting approaches that educators can apply in promoting student safety, well-being, and positive classroom interactions.
Meanwhile, Atty. Ernest Godfrey L. Tejada, Legal Officer, tackled DO 006, s. 2026: “Ensuring a Safe and Motivating Learning Environment,” providing educators with insights into creating learning spaces that uphold safety, responsibility, and learner support.
The training also featured Mr. Norman F. Magsino, DepEd Mathematics specialist, who discussed “Integrating Gamified and Game-Based Learning Strategies in Strengthened Senior High School Instruction.” His session introduced approaches that can help make classroom instruction more interactive and engaging through the purposeful integration of games and gamified activities.
Through the said INSET, SHS Department strengthened its commitment to continuous professional development and to providing learners with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning community anchored in values and excellence.
