Thirty top-performing incoming fourth-year students from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) programs participated in an employment readiness seminar and mock interview conducted by FLIGNO in preparation for their upcoming Onboard Training (OBT).
The activity provided students with practical guidance on developing professional curriculum vitae (CVs) and effectively responding to common interview questions which are essential skills for securing cadetship opportunities in the maritime industry.
Following the seminar, participants underwent a series of mock interviews to simulate actual recruitment procedures.
Representatives from FLIGNO assisted by the College of Maritime Education Faculty facilitated the initial interviews, allowing students to apply the techniques and strategies discussed during the orientation.
Among the 46 participants, three cadets stood out for achieving the highest scores in the mock interview. These were E/Cdt. Joross L. Casas, D/Cdt. John Paulo T. Banta, and D/Cdt. Gabriel Francis De Mesa Aloria, who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, communication skills, and interview performance throughout the assessment.
The said activity aimed to familiarize students with the recruitment process while helping them build confidence, improve their interview performance, and present themselves professionally to prospective employers.
