Southwestern College of Maritime Business and Technology Inc. hosted the CCAA season 18 with a theme of "PROPELING TOWARDS GLOBALLY COMPETITIVE ATHLETES" at Sentrong Pangkabataan, Singko, Calapan City.
The City Calapan Brass Band gave an incredible performance that brought joy to the audience. The participating colleges, such as Falcons, Avian Cat, Warriors, Mariners, Halcons, Green Knights, Aviators, Golden Fox, and Navigators, made a grand entrance together with their athletes, muses, coaches, and sports coordinators.
After each school presented their teams, the national and regional pride was on full display with renditions of the National Anthem led by Mr. Michael Semilla with Navigators Choral, the SCMBT's choir, followed by the Calapan Hymn and Mindoreno Hymn. The SCMBT Cadets performed a mesmerizing silent drill, captivating the audience with their precision and discipline. This was followed by a fun dance performance that got everyone on their feet, infusing an air of excitement. The MC's from SCMBT ensured that the audience remained engaged throughout the event.
Mr. Marvin Panahon, the founder of CCAA and City Youth and Sports Development Officer, delivered a heartwarming speech about the tournament's rules and regulations. Honorable City Councilor Rommel A. Ignacio and City Administrator, Atty. Raymund Aif Ussam, expressed their unwavering support for the event, highlighting the city's commitment to promoting sports and youth development. The attendees were welcomed by the President of SCMBT, Atty. Armando S. Fernandez. His opening remarks set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of athletics in the development of students.
As each school's organizers made their entrances, they presented their best looks and quotes for their marching, contributing to the festive atmosphere. The CCAA was officially opened with a grand entrance, complete with swords and marching, symbolizing the competitive spirit of the games. The SCMBT dancers put up a captivating opening performance, setting the stage for the intense athletic competitions that would follow. The students' explosive cheers for their respective schools added to the electric atmosphere.
The Introduction of the Muses of the participating respective schools added a touch of elegance and beauty to the event. Each Muse represented her school with grace and pride. The raising of banners by each sports coordinator signified the official beginning of the CCAA competitions. This moment was a testament to the schools' commitment to nurturing young talent in sports.
The torch Lighting ceremony by each sports coordinator marked the commencement of the CCAA. The Oath of Sportsmanship, led by Mr. MC Howard Manalo, an SCMBT athlete, saw all the athletes raise their right hands in a solemn promise to uphold the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship. The event continued with a mesmerizing intermission number by Southband, which added a musical twist to the celebration. Pictures were taken to capture the memory of this special day, with respective schools' representatives, City officials, and Sports Coordinators coming together in unity. Amidst all the seriousness, the event had its fun moments, courtesy of some entertaining mascots that brought smiles to everyone's faces.
