Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. Forges Strategic Partnerships with Leading IT Companies for New Digital Arts and Information Systems Program


 

In a significant step towards enhancing its educational offerings and preparing students for the digital age, Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with several prestigious IT companies and organizations. These partnerships signify the institution's commitment to providing cutting-edge education and fostering industry-relevant skills in the fields of Digital Arts and Information Systems. The participating companies include Wacom, IP Solutions, First Data Corp - Adobe, Rujie Networks, and PSITE MIMAROPA. The partnership was initiated through the assistance of Dr. Neil P. Balba, the PSITE National Trustee and International and Local Consultant for IT. He is also an icon for IT in the Philippines and other countries.

The Digital Arts and Information Systems Program:

Southwestern College's forthcoming Digital Arts and Information Systems program is designed to empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the dynamic and rapidly evolving tech industry. This program will offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of digital arts, including graphic design, multimedia production, animation, and interactive media. Simultaneously, students will gain a deep understanding of information systems, preparing them for careers in IT management, data analysis, and cybersecurity.

Strategic Partnerships with Industry Leaders:

Wacom: Wacom, a global leader in digital pen technology, will provide Southwestern College with state-of-the-art pen displays and tablets. This partnership will enable students to explore and develop their artistic talents through digital media.

IP Solutions: IP Solutions, a prominent IT consulting firm, will collaborate with the college to offer specialized training in network administration, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between education and industry requirements.

First Data Corp - Adobe: Southwestern College has joined hands with First Data Corp, which represents Adobe in the Philippines. This collaboration will grant students access to Adobe's suite of creative software, fostering their creativity and proficiency in digital arts.

Rujie Networks: Rujie Networks, a leading provider of networking solutions, will support the college in establishing a cutting-edge networking lab. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in configuring and managing networks, preparing them for careers in IT infrastructure management.

PSITE MIMAROPA: The Philippine Society of IT Educators (PSITE) MIMAROPA Chapter will provide guidance and support to ensure that Southwestern College's Digital Arts and Information Systems program aligns with industry standards and best practices.

Southwestern College of Maritime Business and Technology (SCMBT) has taken another step in nurturing future maritime professionals by partnering with vessel organizations, particularly Montenegro, to provide comprehensive scholarship programs. This initiative aligns with the core principles of PROJECT SAIL: Setting Anchor in Impoverished Lives (One Mariner Per Family Project), aiming to empower families through maritime education and create sustainable career paths.

In vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit, Marinolympics 2024 kicked off with a grand entrance of colors, setting the stage for the festivities ahead. The SCMBT Marching Band delivered an exhilarating performance, energizing the crowd and participants.

 

PROJECT SAIL: Setting Anchor in Impoverished Lives (The Transformative Power of Montenegro's Scholarship)

Project SAIL, an ambitious initiative in Mindoro, Philippines, is designed to enhance the socio-economic conditions of families by harnessing the island's maritime capabilities. Recognizing the difficulties faced by many people in the region, including scholarship, limited job opportunities, and poverty, the project SAIL focuses on four long-term goals:

The CHED-MARINA Inspection and Evaluation Team started the third day of audit with a comprehensive inspection of the Engine Watchkeeping laboratory, focusing on ship engines and various equipment. This thorough check ensures that the institution adheres to the high standards required for maritime education.
