Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. (SCMBT) marked a historic milestone as it held its 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 for the 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗗𝗛𝗧𝗠) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 for the 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 (𝗗𝗦𝗠𝗥) at SCMBT Annex Covered Court, October 23.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 𝟰𝟯 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, comprising 23 DHTM and 20 DSMR , recognizing their perseverance, dedication, and readiness to pursue opportunities in their respective industries.
Guided by the theme, “𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹, 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆,” the event underscored the institution's commitment to providing quality technical education and developing competent, service-oriented, and industry-ready graduates.
Adding significance to the occasion was the presence of 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗗. 𝗔𝗰𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱𝗮, 𝗖𝗣𝗔, 𝗠𝗕𝗔, Acting Provincial Director of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Oriental Mindoro, who served as the commencement speaker. Her participation highlighted the vital role of technical and vocational education in equipping learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet industry standards.
The first-ever ceremony marked an important chapter in SCMBT’s continuing efforts to expand educational opportunities and recognize the accomplishments of students in its diploma programs. It also demonstrated the institution’s dedication to preparing graduates for the demands of the maritime and hospitality industries.
