Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc. held a ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐น๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด with the ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ป๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ (๐๐๐ ๐ฃ), represented by ๐๐ฆ๐๐ก๐ฆ๐ฃ ๐๐ฒ๐๐น๐ถ๐ฒ ๐ง. ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐๐ฝรณ๐ป, to discuss a possible collaboration focused on extension programs and the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), August 24.
The consultation was headed by ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฉ๐ถ๐น๐บ๐ฎ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ, with representatives from various departments, programs, and offices of the institution actively participating in the discussion. The meeting aimed to identify possible areas of collaboration that could provide meaningful learning and skills development opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
Among the key points discussed was the possibility of offering ๐ง๐๐ฆ๐๐-๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐น๐-๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐ that may equip PDLs with competencies they can use after their release. Through appropriate training and the opportunity to earn National Certificates (NCs), the initiative seeks to help prepare them for employment, livelihood opportunities, and a productive return to the community.
The consultation also served as an avenue for both institutions to explore programs that can address the needs of PDLs while supporting their transition back into society.
