As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen awareness and prevention against illegal drug use among the youth, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group conducted an Anti-Illegal Drugs Symposium at Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology Inc., March 10.

Police Lieutenant Monette Gamdutan provided an overview of the PNP-DEG, explaining its mandate, functions, and responsibilities in combating illegal drug activities, while emphasizing the importance of community and youth support in the government’s anti-drug campaign.

Meanwhile, Robert Lowie Villanueva discussed the different types of illegal drugs, their physical and psychological effects, and how substance abuse can negatively impact a person’s health, behavior, and future career opportunities.

Also present during the symposium was Reynold Quirimit, who supported the conduct of the activity.

The symposium aimed to educate maritime students about the risks and consequences of illegal drug use and encourage them to uphold discipline and responsibility as future maritime professionals.
