As part of its continuing commitment to providing quality maritime education and expanding career opportunities for its students and graduates, 2M John Rhome E.J. Mamangon, Assistant Dean of the College of Maritime Education and OBT Supervisor, conducted an industry visit and meeting with officials of ELWIN Crew Management Inc.
The meeting was attended by Alex A. Villamante, President of ELWIN Crew Management Inc., together with the company's Crew and Staff Welfare Manager.
Discussions centered on establishing a strong partnership between the institution’s Diploma in Ship Maintenance and Repair (DSMR) and ELWIN Crew Management Inc., particularly in the endorsement of maritime cadets for the company's Cadetship Program and future shipboard training opportunities.
Another key agenda discussed was the future employment opportunities for DSMR graduates, particularly BS graduates who possess at least one year of onboard experience, as well as those who have successfully passed their licensure examinations. Both parties recognized the importance of strengthening industry-academe collaboration to ensure graduates are equipped with greater opportunities for professional advancement in the maritime sector.
Furthermore, 2M Mamangon introduced initiatives for the Trainee Engine Fitter Program, which was positively received by ELWIN representatives, opening possibilities for future collaboration and specialized training opportunities in the field of marine engineering as well as Hospitality Management students who are interested in pursuing careers in the company's Steward Department.
As a significant outcome of the meeting, both parties expressed their intention to formalize their collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), marking the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at developing competent professionals and expanding employment opportunities for future graduates.
