𝐒𝐂𝐌𝐁𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞

Southwestern College of Maritime, Business, and Technology STEM students participated in a coastal cleanup and mangrove planting drive at Brgy. Parang, Calapan City, alongside the coast guards and their science teacher, Mr. Bern E. Alvis last September 28.

The event began with all participants gathering to announce its main goals, followed by a prayer led by a member of the coast guard to officially commence the activities.

The STEM students demonstrated their commitment to the environment by actively collecting trash and planting mangrove seedlings.

The said initiative had a key objective of enhancing participants' understanding of environmental issues, particularly regarding pollution and its impact on coastal areas. Additionally, it aimed to contribute to the protection of coastal communities from natural disasters and shoreline erosion through mangrove planting effort.

In general, the event not only contributed to the preservation of the local ecosystem but also instilled a deeper appreciation for nature among the participants, fostering a sense of responsibility towards environmental stewardship.
